Kelly Bado and her Band

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights was the spectacular setting for a performance by Western Canada Music Award winner Kelly Bado, shot on video for a live stream by the Canadian Online Jazz Festival. The performance can be viewed Thursday Nov. 12/20 at 7 pm CST by visiting the Canadian Online Jazz Festival site and looking for the link.

The video was shot in the “Garden of Contemplation” with its filtered daylight streaming in and views of St. Boniface in the background, the museum provided a stunning backdrop and vibe for the concert. It should be noted that luck was on our side as we got the video done before Winnipeg went into a “Code Red” lockdown because of rising COVID-19 numbers, temporarily shutting the museum down.

Kelly and her band cruised through material which was mostly from Bado’s latest album “Hey Terre”. The video is sponsored by Jazz Winnipeg and hosted by its artistic director, Michael Wolch, and is Manitoba’s entry at the Online Festival, which will have daily streaming performances from across Canada between Nov. 8 and Nov. 15. Check out the online program at Canadian Online Jazz Festival and plan to be entertained all week long, but make a point of tuning in Thursday Nov. 12 at 7 pm CST/8 pm EST for Kelly Bado!
